ANTIQUE CHINESE RANK BADGE, late 19th Cent. Embroidery, ethnic, collectors

  

This is an antique Chinese embroidered civilian rank badge, dating from the late 19th Century, divided, as it is intended for the front of the robe. It shows a bird, a silver pheasant, resting on a rock or a stump over hummocks or waves of different colours. It is carried out in couched thread work in metallic gold and silver thread couched with threads of different colours on a silk background. The bird has its wings extended and a tail with five feathers and there is a sun in the right hand top corner. The condition is very good, with no damage and the colours are bright and not faded.
