According to the previous owner of this painting it was kept in her family for at least 3 generations. A local Asian antique dealer dates this painting back to late Qing Dynasty. The painting is on some kinds of cloth with some edges showing at the top right corner of the frame. It is nicely painted and executed in terms of colors used and layout. Lots of fine details, well balanced and good depth and 3D perceptions.Even after all the years it still shows very well and will greatly enhance the environment where it will be hanging. It depicts a scene which likely involved a story between a scholar and his student who is playing/walking by outside the classroom. Unsigned but definitely from the hands of a master who knew how to display a dynamic scene and natural facial/body expression with simple strokes as well as using colors. A lovely piece indeed for collection and decorating. It is no doubt a lovely piece of vintage Chinese arts as well as a good investment. Actual painting measures 10.5x15", frame measures 15x21". Feel free to make a reasonable offer.
