AUTHENTIC ANTIQUE LATE QING DYNASTY CHINA CHINESE ASIAN CEREMONIAL ROBE w/ EMBROIDERED SHINING MAN SUN FACE. The unusual ceremonial silk robe presented herewith is a good example. With in particular, its absolutely rarified incorporation of the'Smiling Man. Promenately embroidered and displayed at the bottom of the body of this fine robe on. This special robe measures a very long 58" inches with a shoulder spanning seam to seam at 21".
The width at the bottom hem of the robe measures 37 across as shown. At one point at the left arm is a small tear in need of a repair and also. A tear is found in a similar spot of the right arm as shown.
One of the two sleeve areas as shown in one of the photos has had a small silk patch repair. Which is an old repair. The collar shows wear and discoloration of inner cloth lining.
Shows as having been sewed by hand. As also other areas of the garment exhibit as well. The floral motifs and elaborate embroidery consists of machine embroidery. Was first invented and introduced in 1828.
