Antique mid-late 18th C Chinese blue and white porcelain saucer

  
A thick, shiny, glaze of slightly bluish-white glaze makes a nice foil for the deep blue paintings on this small saucer. Insects fly in the air above nodding grasses and flowers. A small round, thinly potted, hand potted and hand painted porcelain saucer. The glaze is unctuous, soft, shiny and with a good feel.

There is a slight blue cast to the white glaze. The cobalt used is a nice dark cobalt color.

The saucer has a nice soft rise to the lip. It rests on a slight V-shaped foot. The foot is unglazed but the base is. There is a painted double ring on the base with a lotus flower in the center. 4 5/8 (11.7 cm) diameter x 1 (2.5 cm) tall. Weighs 3.6 oz (100 g). There are kiln flaws on the base. There is a tiny chip on the foot ring. There is an area on the saucer rim with tiny frits. There are wear scratches to the inside surface. It shows very well for being so old and having seen usage.
