Antique Pair of Framed Chinese Silk Panels Lotus and Ducks Late Qing

  

A colorful pair of framed silk panels with lotus, kingfishers, and ducks. The Chinese silk panels were embroidered in satin stich in designs of a water scene.

They are colorful with big bold embroideries of lotus leaves rising from the water with colorful shaded flowers. The lotus leaves are a nice pastel celadon green while the flowers are shaded purple.

Every design is well thought out with a multitude of colors. The ducks especially have a feeling of depth. The frames are gilded wood with old paper backs. Each panel - 24 ½" (62.2 cm) tall x 6 ½" (16.5 cm) wide. Total weight 2 lbs 3 oz (1650 g).

There are a few stains to the background and signs of strain along the edges of where the embroideries meet the background. There are also a few worn areas on the background.

The embroideries are in excellent condition. The colors are still vibrant and colorful, and the threads are intact. The wood frames have lost gesso and gilding; and there are tears to the paper backing. Please note that any marks you see in the photos are reflections from the glass covering the front. I had a difficult time eliminating all reflections.
